The 2025 NFL offseason was a wild one, with several teams making significant moves to alter their rosters. The Washington Commanders bolstered their offense by adding wide receiver Deebo Samuel and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, Minnesota signed several impact defensive and offensive linemen, and the Los Angeles Rams signed veteran receiver Davante Adams.
While most of the action occurred in April and May close to the 2025 NFL Draft, some teams were still making last-minute tweaks to their rosters ahead of the 2025 season. Here are some of the latest trades.
49ers Acquire DL Bryce Huff
The San Francisco 49ers upgraded their defensive line in early June by acquiring veteran Bryce Huff from the Philadelphia Eagles for a mid-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Huff will complement 49ers star edge rusher Nick Bosa and San Francisco is hopeful he can return to the form he showed in 2023 with the New York Jets under head coach Robert Saleh, who is now the 49ers defensive coordinator.
Huff had a career-best 10 sacks in 2023, while also recording 67 pressures on 334 pass rush snaps. He had 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble in 12 games with the Eagles last season. Philadelphia will pay $9.05 million of Huff's $17 million contract in 2025, while the 49ers are on the hook for $7.95 million.
Dolphins and Steelers Blockbuster
After months of trade speculation, the Miami Dolphins finally shipped out star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, sending him to the Pittsburgh Steelers along with tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. Pittsburgh subsequently signed Smith to a one-year, $12 million contract extension.
A seven-time Pro Bowler, Ramsey has 534 tackles, 108 passes defended, and 24 interceptions in nine seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, and Dolphins. He had 60 tackles and two interceptions in 17 games in 2024. Smith, meanwhile, is coming off a career season in which he had 88 receptions for 884 yards and scored eight touchdowns.
Fitzpatrick is returning to Miami, the team that selected him 11th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Dolphins traded him to the Steelers in 2019. He had 516 tackles, 18 interceptions, and four forced fumbles in six seasons in Pittsburgh.
Darren Waller Joins Miami
Shortly after dealing Smith, the Dolphins looked to the New York Giants to address their needs at the tight end position. Miami acquired veteran Darren Waller from the Giants in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick in 2026 and seventh-round pick in 2027.
Waller retired after the 2023 season, his first with the Giants, but is returning for a ninth season in 2025 with Miami. He had 552 receiving yards and one touchdown with New York in 2023 and is five years removed from a career year in which he had 107 receptions for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns with the Las Vegas Raiders.
